Bone cancer is one of the least common types of cancer. The long bones of the arms and the legs are the most commonly affected by this disease. Let’s have a look at the types, causes, and risk factors of this cancer, before we go on to the symptoms and treatment. Types, causes, and risk factors of bone cancer There are mainly three types of bone cancer and they differ in terms of the types of cells the cancer begins in.

Osteosarcoma – This begins in the bone cells and is mostly found in children and young adults.

Chondrosarcoma – This begins in the cartilage cells and mostly affects older adults.

Ewing’s sarcoma – Although no one knows for sure where this type of bone cancer begins, it is generally believed that it may begin in the nerve tissue within the bone and mostly affects children and young adults.

The causes of bone cancer are not clearly known, however, there are certain factors which increase an individual’s risk of getting this type of bone cancer. Following are some of these risk factors:

There are certain genetic defects that can be passed through families and which increase the risk

Paget’s disease of bone is a condition in which the bones become too large and weak making them prone to pain and fractures. This condition, which mostly affects older adults, increases the risk of bone cancer.

Exposure to large doses of radiation, for example, during radiation therapy for a previous cancer, may increase your risk of getting this type of cancer.

General risk factors associated with unhealthy living such as excessive alcohol consumption and drug abuse.

Symptoms

Pain is felt in the bone with the cancer

There is swelling in the area and it may feel tender to the touch

The bones may become weak causing fractures

Fatigue or excessive tiredness even though you are sleeping well

Weight loss that happens without trying

Diagnosis and treatment

If your physician suspects that you have bone cancer, he/she may recommend imaging tests such as scan, X-ray, or a CT scan. A biopsy may also be done in which the sample of a tissue is taken from the cancer-affected area and tested in the lab. The physician will also carry out certain tests to find out the stage of your cancer.

Your treatment will depend on the type and stage of your cancer, and your overall health condition. Surgery may be required to remove a limb, remove the cancer, or remove the bone or the surrounding tissue. Radiation therapy and chemotherapy may also be used for treatment of the bone cancer.

Bone cancer may lead to complications such as pain, reduced function of the bone, and spread of the cancer to nearby tissues. If you notice any of the symptoms mentioned above, consult a physician immediately. If caught early, treatment can be successful.

When it comes to canine cancer, canine bone cancer is one of the scariest. Why is it scary? Just reading about some of the things that the cancer can do to your dogs body will make you cringe. This type of cancer is very aggressive. Meaning that it not only grows in your dogs body, it attacks and maims. Leaving your dog a shell of his former self. But like all cancers, with knowledge and information, it can be beaten.

Some of the scariest things about canine bone cancer are:

1. Hemangiosarcoma – This is one of the many types of tumors that can develop from cancer. This type is fed by your dog’s blood. Without going into too much detail, this tumor can kill your dog from rupturing, causing internal and external bleeding.

2. Osteosarcoma – This type of bone tumor actually grows inside your dog’s bones. Replacing regular bone with tumor bone, which is extremely fragile and painful for your dog. Not good.

3. Mestasis – This basically means that the cancer can spread to other parts of your dogs body. His brain, spleen, liver, etc, etc. Mestasis is one of the leading reasons why you might have to euthanize your dog.

As you can see, canine bone cancer can be very aggressive. Doing things that other forms of cancer cannot. But like all cancers, early detection almost always has a good prognosis. That’s why it’s very important to keep a watchful eye on your dog. If you happen to notice any symptoms of cancer, you should take them to a vet ASAP!

In many cases, the owner doesn’t realize that their dog has cancer until it’s too late. Knowing the symptoms of canine bone cancer, keeping a watchful eye on your dog, and frequent visits to the vet at the first sign of trouble, are your dogs ONLY defense against this incredibly fatal disease.

It is a fatal-disease that rarely affects the human-beings. It is caused whenever a malicious tumor cells develop on the bone marrow or the tissues of the bone cells. This ultimately leads to the destruction of bone tissues. It proves to be fatal when patients are detected with this disease. There are two kinds of bone cancer:

Benign: It harms the healthy bone tissue, but does not spread to the other bone tissues.

Malignant: It destroys and spread to the other bone tissues, posing a huge threat for human life.

This type of cancer can be classified into the following types depending upon where the cancer cells develop, size and its stage of development. They are:

Multiple Myeloma: This is the most common type, which develops in the bone marrows and the lymphatic regions.

Bone Sarcomas: This type of cancer is found to be developed in the connective tissues as the bone cartilage muscles. The commonly found bone sarcoma affecting the humans can be further classified into:

Chondrosarcoma: This type of cancer normally originates in upper leg, shoulder and the pelvis.

Osteosarcoma: This type of cancer is found to be developed in the osteoid tissues.

Ewing’s sarcoma: This develops in the bone but also originates in the soft tissues like femur, humerus, pelvis and the ribs.

The conventional medical treatments for bone cancer include cryotherapy, surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy. Apart from the conventional practices, cancer-patients are very keen in the alternative bone cancer treatment, to relieve their pains, stresses and side-effects. It is important to note that protocols are been developed these days to treat cancer even at advanced level these days. They serve as an important alternative bone cancer treatment.

Electromedicine – Frequency Generator: Dr.Royal Rife had invented the Rife machine in 1930s, is what now called as a frequency generator. These are used for both primary as well as secondary cancer treatments. Apart from other critical cancer treatments, patients suffering from multiple myeloma, bone marrows can obtain significant benefits from this treatment. This is a case where supplementary techniques aren’t enough for a complete cure for an advanced stage of cancer.

Apart from these the following techniques suggested by experts are an excellent ways of alternative treatments. They are:

Nutrition

Massage therapy

Meditation

Visualization

Acupuncture

Homeopathy

Spiritual Healing etc.,

These practices are often integrated with conventional medical practices to cure all types of cancer.

Generally, alternative treatments work not only for curing bone cancer, but for curing all cancers practically. But knowledge is of prime essence. The most important thing to know is that chemotherapy, radiation, drugs and surgery are not the only options. So get rid of your fears about bone cancer.

Bone cancer is a particularly difficult and severe type of cancer. It is caused when there is a problem with the cells which make bones. Every year in the United States, over two thousand people are diagnosed with this type of cancer, in the form of a bone tumor. These frequently occur in children and adolescents. They are less common in adults, especially as they get older, but they do occur. Metastatic bone cancer is more common in adults. This is a type of cancer which spreads to the bone from another cancer site.

There are several different types of bone cancer; there are six common ones, beginning with osteosarcoma. It is the most common type of malignant bone cancer. It occurs more often in males who are between the ages of ten and twenty five, though it does occur in adults older than twenty five as well. Typically, the bone tumors occur in the long bones of the arms and legs, around the knees and shoulders. This type of cancer has a high risk of spreading to the lungs. Its five year survival rate runs at approximately sixty five percent.

Ewing’s sarcoma is a very aggressive type of bone cancer, typically occurring in children between the ages of four and fifteen. Again, it is more commonly seen in males. It rarely occurs in people over the age of thirty. It usually shows up in the midpoint of the long bones in the arms and legs. In the event that the cancer has not spread to the lungs or other parts of the body, its three year survival rate is approximately sixty five percent.

Chondrosarcoma is responsible for a quarter of all malignant tumors and is the second most common type of bone cancer. It occurs in cartilage cells and is incredibly unpredictable. The tumors can be either aggressive or slow in forming. In the case of the latter tumors, the survival rate is about ninety percent; for aggressive tumors, it has only a thirty percent five year survival rate.

Fibrosarcoma is a very rare type of bone cancer and occurs in adults between the ages of thirty five and fifty five. It generally shows up in the leg, behind the knee, and is more common in males. Chordoma is also very rare; the survival rate is not very often. It, too, is more common in males and typically occurs once the patient is over the age of thirty. There are also a number of benign bone tumors.

Bone cancer symptoms get worse over time. The most common symptom is pain. At first, it may occur more at night or when the patient is active. The signs of bone cancer may last for a few weeks, a few months, or even years. Sometimes, it is possible to feel the tumors, in the form of either a mass or a lump, generally right on the bone or in the tissue surrounding it.

Other bone cancer symptoms include fevers, chills, night sweats, and inexplicable weight loss. However, these signs are not very common unless the bone tumor has spread to other parts of the body. Sometimes there are no signs of bone cancer; sometimes there are no bone cancer symptoms. Frequently, it simply shows up in a routine check up; the same goes for metastatic bone cancer. Clearly, it is important to be diligent.

Talking about bone cancer, you will find that there are two types of this disease. They are primary and secondary cancer. You will find that the secondary cancer will be more dangerous than the primary one. This indicates that a person has other forms of cancer that have spread to the bones. Some cancers that can spread to the bones are lung, prostate and breast cancer.

However, you will find that bone cancer there is no changes in daily lifestyle that prevent this disease. You will find that the risk of suffering this disease only depends of the history of the family health. But, there are some extent of having been exposed by doses of radiation can cause this disease. Some prevention that you can do so that you will not have cancer will be described in the following.

You should know your risk. Since primary bone cancer depends on the family history, it is important for you to know the health history of your family. In this case, you will find that you may have a risk of suffering this can cancer if someone in your family have Paget’s diseases. Also, if you are exposed by the radiation for your treatment for other cancers, your risk of getting bone cancer is also high.

If you have cancers, you should talk to your doctor to get the solution to prevent the bone cancer from metastasizing to the bones. This is the most important thing to do to do the prevention to the secondary bone cancer. You will find that the options that you can choose will vary. This depends on the type of cancer that you have and the location of cancer itself.

Then, you should complete all treatments that are recommended by your doctor. You should not miss any treatments since this can make your cancer will spread to bone easily so that you will have cancer in the bone.

Those are some things that you should do to prevent bone cancer especially secondary one. You should do those things and always live healthy so that you can fight the cancer that you have.

Cancer of the bone or bone cancer is a general term used when cancer cells are seen in the bone. Cancer that begins in the bone is called primary bone cancer. It is found most often in the arms and legs but it can occur in any bone in the body. Children and young people are more likely than adults to have bone cancers.

Primary bone cancers are called sarcomas. There are several different types of sarcoma and each type begins in a different kind of bone tissue. The most common sarcomas are osteosarcoma, Ewing’s sarcoma, and chondrosarcoma.

In young people, the most common type of bone cancer is osteosarcoma, usually occurring between the ages of ten and twenty-five. More often, males are affected than females. Osteosarcoma frequently starts in the ends of the bones; where new bone tissue forms as a young person grows, usually affecting the long bones of the arms and legs. Ewing’s sarcoma usually affects teenagers, and is mostly found in people between ten and twenty-five years old.

This cancer forms in the middle part (shaft) of large bones and most often affects the hip bones and long bones in the thigh and upper arm, but can also occur in the ribs. Chondrosarcoma is a type of tumor that forms in the cartilage (rubbery tissue around the joints) and are found mainly in adults. Other types of bone cancer include fibrosarcoma (malignant giant cell tumor) and chordoma. These are rare cancers and most often affects people over thirty.

The most common symptom of bone cancer is pain. However, symptoms may vary depending on the location and size of the cancer. Sometimes firm, slightly tender lump on the bone can be felt through the skin. Sometimes bone cancer interferes with normal movements and can also weaken or cause bones to break. Tumors that occur in or near joints may cause swelling and tenderness in the affected area. Other symptoms may include fatigue, fever, weight loss, and anemia. It is important to check with a doctor when you experience these symptoms, but these symptoms can also be caused by other less serious conditions.

Conventional treatment for some bone tumors may involve surgery, such as limb amputation. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy can be effective in some tumors (such as Ewing’s sarcoma) but less so in others (such as chondrosarcoma). After treatment has been done for bone cancer, it is very important that regular follow-up or check-ups are done with your doctor, to be sure that cancer has not come back and treat it promptly if it does. Check-ups may be physical exam, x-rays, scans, blood tests, and other laboratory tests.

People who have been diagnosed of bone cancer may have many physical, emotional, practical worries. They may worry that removal of a limb or other surgery will affect not only how they look but how other people would feel about them. Patients can be helped to overcome all these through special support groups for youngsters with cancer and their families. The American Cancer Society, for example, is a nonprofit organization that has many services for patients and their families.

All types of cancer are traumatic for everyone involved. The keyword is prevention. There are natural supplements that work. Unfortunately we don’t hear much about these supplements unless we investigate and search them out. Most of them fall under the conflicted interest of quack watchers because if it isn’t manufactured by the drug companies, it can’t possibly work. Sure there is some good being done in mainstream medicine, but when doors continually stay closed to alternative preventions and treatments, it’s more than mere coincidence.

Take care of your health and realize you can live cancer free.

Are you afraid that you or someone you care about may be suffering from bone cancer symptoms? Well, although they are something that we don’t usually take much notice of, our bones are just as susceptible as any organ in the body made of soft tissues. This disease is caused by irregular growths within the bone itself and primarily targets children or adolescents whose bones are still undergoing development, as opposed to adults whose bones have reached their full maturity. When adults are diagnosed it usually stems from cancer cells in another part in the body.

As with any other tumor, the ones that develop within the bone can either be benign or malignant. Although they go by a number of types, this does not stop bone cancer symptoms from showing. For example, both the primary and secondary bone tumors can cause pain in the afflicted area, hence why it’s one of the most visible signs to watch out for. This type of pain is deep, nagging and ongoing, which is why some young people may attribute it to growing pains. They can, however, get bad enough to cause insomnia. Other symptoms are not as easy to spot, like swelling of the limbs or joints which can easily be put off as a sprain. Fragile, brittle bones are also a symptom, causing fractures even if you only suffer the mildest of accidents.

Other things to watch for can include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pains and even confusion. This can be harder to determine with women though, especially if they have painful menstruation.

Some of these signs can be caused by calcium deposits from the bones making their way into the bloodstream, raising calcium levels to such a height that their build-up causes a tumor.

Remember that things like swelling can be a major cause for concern. This is because they only become noticeable once the tumor has grown. These can also be hard to spot because their source may lie deep inside the tissues, making them hard to notice until it’s too late.

Bone tumors that develop near the joints, whether benign or malignant in nature, can cause difficulty in movement even causing you to walk with a limp. The effects can be even worse when the spine is affected because it may lead to paralysis.

Of course, there are other less common bone cancer symptoms that you should watch out for. They include tiredness, weight loss and high fever. Though these things can be caused by other illnesses, when they are coupled with deep-seated pains or swelling it’s a good idea to have them checked out by your doctor right away.

Bone cancer is rare and accounts for less than 1% of all new tumors. Not all bone tumors are fatal in fact benign (non cancerous) abnormalities are more common than malignant ones. Most are secondary and have been spread from another site. Primary bone cancer which starts in the bone is quite rare constituting less than one per cent of all malignant tumors. They are more common in males, especially in children and adolescents. The most common type of primary cancer is osteosarcoma. This type of carcinoma usually affects young adults. It can affect any bone, but the arms, legs and pelvis are more commonly affected. Other less common forms of primary bone cancer include Ewing sarcoma, malignant fibrous histiocytoma and chondrosarcoma.

Primary Bone Cancer
The causes of primary bone tumours are not known; however, adults who have Pagets disease (a bone disease) may have an increased risk.

Secondary bone cancer
Secondary bone cancer is the most common bone cancer. It is a carcinoma that starts somewhere else in the body and spreads (metastasises) to the bone. The most common cancers that spread to the bone originate in the breast, prostate, lung, kidney and thyroid.

Reticulum cell sarcoma of the bone
A cancerous tumor of the bone marrow presenting in more males than females.

Leukaemia
Cancer of the blood, which starts in the bone marrow

Symptoms of bore cancer
Symptoms tend to develop slowly and depend on the type, location, and size of the tumor. The signs and symptoms of bone carcinoma include: painful bones and joints, swelling of bones and joints, problems with movement, susceptibility to fractures. Less common symptoms include: unexplained weight loss, tiredness, fever and sweating.

Remember this conditionr is very rare so if you have any of these symptoms it is likely to be caused by another condition. Always see your doctor if you have for a diagnosis.

Causes
Although bone cancer does not have a clearly defined cause, researchers have identified several factors that increase the likelihood of developing these tumors. A small number of bone cancers are due to heredity.

Diagnosis
Bone cancer can present itself in any of the bones of the body, but it is diagnosed most often in the long bones of the arms and legs.

Diagnosing bone cancer involves a number of tests, including: X-rays and bone scans to show the exact location and size of the cancer (these are always done prior to biopsy), bone biopsy where a small sample of the cancer is removed from the bone and examined in the laboratory for the presence of malignant cells, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan similar to a CT scan but uses magnetism instead of x-rays to build three-dimensional pictures of your body.

Treatment
The treatment and prognosis depends upon multiple factors including the type and extent of the cancer, the patient’s age and overall health status. Tumors may be treated with surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, or a combination of these.

Primary bone cancers:
The tumor, surrounding bone tissue and nearby lymph nodes are surgically removed. In severe cases, the affected limb may need to be amputated, but this is rare. Treatment may also include radiotherapy (x-rays to target and kill the cancer cells) and chemotherapy (anti-cancer drugs). These may be given before surgery, to shrink the cancer and/or afterward to destroy any remaining cancer cells.

Secondary bone cancer:
Treatment depends on the treatment for the original tumor, but usually includes chemotherapy, radiotherapy or hormone therapy. Surgery may be needed to strengthen the affected bone.

Prognosis
Overall, the chance of recovery (prognosis) for bone cancers has improved significantly since the development of modern chemotherapy. The chance of recovery will depend on a variety of influences; if the cancer has spread, the type of cancer, the size of the tumour, location, the person’s general health and other individual factors.

If the tumor is very small and localized, the five-year survival rate is close to 90 percent. If the cancer has begun to spread, however, survival becomes more difficult. The five-year survival rate is only about 60 percent, and the prognosis is poor once the cancer spreads.

Bone cancer in cats and dogs
Bone carcinoma in dogs and cats can be a challenging disorder. Osteosarcoma is by far the most common bone tumour if dogs, usually striking the leg bones of larger breeds. Chemotherapy significantly prolongs the survival of animals with osteosarcoma when used in conjunction with surgery. For dogs Cisplatin alone or in combination with doxorubicin markedly improves survival time to a median of 8-10 months with the percentage of dogs alive after11 months at 50%.

Feline Osteosarcoma unlike its canine counterpart it has a much lower rate of metastasis and longer term survival can be expected with complete excision. Median survival for cats with osteosarcoma is approximately 2 years with many cats outreaching that.

If you want to find more information about alternative bone cancer treatment and learn much more about curing cancer naturally.
